What is going on everyone? I'm your host Isaac Mashman and you are now listening to episode 21 of Chase the Vision with Isaac Mashman the podcast Pretty simple to remember right? So today I am going to be talking about the definition of normal What does normal mean to you? But before I hop into that I want to go ahead and address something the only way that this podcast can grow is with your help See I'm never going to run an outside advertisement. I'm not going to you know go ahead and promote all of these different companies on my show. The most promotion you will ever get is my own products, my own services.
I have a lot of amazing things that are coming out over the next couple of months that I might plug on my show here and there.
But I am the one who's trying to give value. I'm trying to deliver the most value I possibly can to all of you guys. I haven't had 10, 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship or in business or in self-improvement, like a lot of people have. But the one thing that I do have is some experience. I do have some skin in the game. This upcoming August is going to mark three years in my entrepreneurial journey. But the one thing that I've been able to do over the past couple of years since I got started is study and take on to mentorship, take on to knowledge.
I've been a student of the game. And because of that, I am trying to relay that information over into your own brain. So you can learn from my mistakes.
So you can learn my knowledge. I believe that we should always be students, we should always be learning, and we should always be trying to save as much time as possible. That's called cutting timeframes. Why would you spend 10 years, or even one month, or even one day or one minute, making the same exact mistake that someone has already made before you? It doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? So I'm all about saving you time. That is the one asset that we will never get back. And so I say all of that to say this. If you get any ounce of value from the episodes that I share, you tell a friend, you tell somebody about Chase the Vision with Isaac Mashman.
And I'm not talking about just posting it on your story or just saying something briefly in conversation, but no, make an effort to go out and tell somebody about my podcast.
That is literally the only way that I'm going to grow. If I ever run advertisements in the future on social media to grow my podcast, great. But until I get to that point, I need your guys' help and I will always need your guys' help. You guys are the reason why I'm doing the show. So I just wanted to mention that, you know, any episode that you listen to, share it with a friend. You know, I would say go out and tell somebody in real life, but you know, obviously, as of the time and as of the date of recording this episode and it's published date, we're all underneath quarantine.
We're under lockdown and I'm not going to encourage you to go out and, you know, tell somebody, you know, and drive where they're at their house.
Anyways, so into what we're going to be talking about today. Normal, what is normal? You see, I was listening to a podcast earlier today, actually it was Bradley's podcast dropping bombs and it was with a host called Alex, or it was with a guest rather, Alex Morton. Now Alex Morton is, he's 30 years old, he's made a whole bunch of different money and he is the vice president of a network marketing company. He made his money through network marketing and for those of you who don't know, I was actually a part of that network marketing company that he was vice president of for nearly a year.
I'm not gonna mention the company, but after getting out of that company, I still look to a lot of those company leaders as mentors because of their experience.
It goes back to always being a student. And so he was on that episode, and they were going back and forth, having a conversation and literally dropping bombs. That's Bradley's podcast. So whenever you get a golden nugget or something that is really powerful, He has a little bomb emoji that makes an explode or not emoji, but he has a bomb sound that goes off. And that's like, hey, people, pay attention to that, you know, that thing that was just said. Hit that replay button and relisten to the past 15 seconds. And they were talking about, you know, normal life and it got me to thinking over my own past.
It got me to thinking about, you know, the way I was raised, the way I was brought up and see, for the longest time, I thought that it was normal.
I thought that the way I was raised was just like everybody else. When you're younger, you don't know any better. You look to your parents as superheroes. You look to your mom, you look to your dad, you look to your grandparents as role models. And as a young kid, you view them as people who have everything in their life figured out. But the older you get, and the more life experience you obtain, you begin to realize that they're no different than us. They've just been alive longer and they might have more experience than us. might not in some areas, but chances are they do and They're normal people.
They are no different than we are and you recognize that Most of the time they don't have everything figured out. They might not have you know Everything in their career under you know under wraps their relationship might be going through a tumultuous time there There might be some tension between them. They might need to be working through that there are just all these different things and the more I was reflecting over my past I recognized just how abnormal it truly was but then it got me to also questioning well what is the definition of normal is there such a definition and I think normal is really whatever we make it you see we are creators in our life we are able to create our lives based around what we want to live based on the things that we want.
You know, God made us in his own image. He doesn't mean that in a physical sense, in a sense of, oh, God looks like a human. And I'm not about to go into religion, but bear with me for a second. He says that he made humans in his own image. That means we are able to create. We are able to build things. And I'm not saying this in some ultra spiritual new thought. Oh my God, you know, you can literally manifest anything. You can create something out of thin air. No, not what I mean. But we are the only creatures on this planet that have the ability to create and shape our environment.
We are the only creature that has a level of consciousness to where we are able to create new ideas. 200, 300 years ago, if you were to talk to someone about flying in the air, they would have laughed at you.
would have been like that is impossible. Only the birds can fly. Only the angels can fly, right? And then fast forward the right brothers were like, you know what? If a bird can do it, I can do it. And then they made a plane and they flew. You know, eventually this is an analogy I got from one of my virtual mentors, Bob Proctor. He spoke about the concept of a chair in his book You Were Born Rich. And in that analogy, he mentioned that there was some point where a man got so distraught over sitting on the ground and on the cold hard dirt to where he started to build and manufacture a chair in his mind.
And then the chair evolved from just a piece of wood that you were sitting on and it evolved to having padding, right? To where you have pads on your chair to make it more comfortable. And then when the office came into being, then you know, the chair had wheels to where you could roll the chair around and then it had a couch and then it had a sofa.
and it's a consistent evolution. And so I believe that we are all able to create and shape our realities and our lives. I've seen it happen in way too many people's lives on my own network over the past of, over the course of literally two years or less than two years, they go from being a nobody to being a somebody. I've met so many amazing influencers and creators through my social media connections. And I was a star creator for a Facebook competitor after TikTok called Lasso. And because of that, I had a lot of amazing connections that I was able to establish with, some pretty big names now, but they weren't always big names.
There is someone who I met at VidCon 2019, and his name is Sean Dez-Magic. At the time of meeting him, he had less than 100,000 followers on Instagram, I think he was sitting around 70, 80K, and he had less than a million followers on TikTok.
Fast forward, not even 12 months later, he just crossed 10 million followers on TikTok. He has 140,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel and he has 250,000 followers on Instagram and he's getting direct messages from people of importance, people who are verified celebrities, A-list celebrities, B-list celebrities, he's getting into the public image and that was a goal that he set. There was a reason why he achieved those things. He wrote out the goal, he worked his butt off to obtain that goal and now he has manifested and created that into his life and that is what we have the power to do in our own lives if we take massive action.
Anyways, that's a topic for another day. I could go on and talk about that for hours on end. It's something that I'm extremely passionate about, the things that I'm passionate about.
I'm able to talk about for long periods of time. But going back to what we were discussing today, today's topic of what is normal, I believe we establish the definition of normal in our life, But we have to understand that the way that we were raised and the way that our parents taught us and the way that the teachers Program does have all influenced our way of thinking on a Subcautious level not a cautious level the subconscious level see our brain and our lives are operated mainly by our subconscious mind For those of you who drive think of the first time that you ever drove a car you thought you were going to crash that car, you thought you were going to freak and kill yourself.
And then now fast forward you had more experience driving and now you know I'm not suggesting you do this by no means but you're driving with your knees and then you're drinking a cup of coffee, you're on the phone which you shouldn't be or you're listening to music at the same time you're not giving so much cautious effort and cautious energy towards driving that car. It becomes second nature to you. That second nature means that it was programmed in your subconscious mind just as actions can be programmed, thoughts can also be programmed. The ways of thinking, why do you think a lot of people who were raised in a certain political party come out and they are of the same political party or they are raised underneath a certain religion and then they grow up and they are of the same religion of their parents, of their grandparents, of their great great grandparents.
That tradition is subconscious programming that gets programmed into your DNA to where your kid is the same exact way as you. And then your grand kid is the same exact way as you.
Unless that kid decides that, you know what, I do not take on to those beliefs or I do not take on to that way of living. What was normal is going to become abnormal to them because they do not like it anymore. Because they've recognized that just because they were raised a certain way does not mean that they have to continue living that certain way. I remember growing up, you know, And these are some memories that I really haven't thought about for a very long time. But when I was younger, we would go shopping and very rarely would we get the name brand products. We would get the great value products.
Most of our shopping came from Walmart. It didn't come from Publix. It didn't come from Target. It came from Walmart where prices are relatively low most of the time.
We would get the great value can of beans. We want to get the bushes can of beans. we would get the great value condiments and the great value mustard instead of the French's mustard. Now, that might not seem like a lie. And a lot of those, you know, great value brands actually taste just as good as the name brand, but the reason why we didn't get the name brand was not because of the quality of the product. It was because of the price of the product. Just because the can of beans was 10 cents cheaper, we would always go for that instead of the can of beans that was 10 cents more.
It was coming from a place of scarcity. And something else that Alex Morin mentioned in the podcast was how people oftentimes are raised to where you have to finish all the food on your plate.
Now, I still believe that you should only eat or you should only get what you can eat. But it's like, if you didn't eat everything, yes, you were wasting it, but if you didn't eat anything, it's like food is never going to come on your plate again. It's like you have to finish that. If you don't finish it, man, like the world is falling, like the sky is falling, literally chicken little running around like the world's going to end if you don't finish every single P on your plate. That's a scarcity mindset. That is a mindset of, oh, there's nothing more that you can eat.
There's nothing more. You have to do that. And that scarcity mindset breeds scarcity results, whether that's financially, whether that's in friendships or relationships, whether that's in human growth, right?
We as human beings should always be growing. We should always be improving. We should always be getting better. should always be pushing our limits. Why do you think I call or the why do you think the phrase that I'm using now is live without limitations? Because I saw so many people in their lives stop growing and the moment that they stop growing their lives went to total chaos. It went totally down the drain and you can't grow with a scarcity mindset. People think that stagnant and people think that stopping. Oh, as I'm content, I'm happy with where I'm at, I'm not looking for anything else.
I'm perfectly okay with where I'm at. Well guess what? You are actually digressing because the rest of the world is moving forward. I use the analogy multiple times of the rock and the stream. The rock and the stream doesn't appear to be moving backwards. But over the course of 100 years or 1000 years, the current of the stream is going to be wearing and eroding away at that rock to where eventually it'll be nothing and it will just go down and drift away into nothingness. Many people live their lives like that rock in the stream.
They just don't move. They're stuck in the ways that they were raised. They're stuck in their current form of living and they don't have this fire in their heart. They don't have this fire that like underneath their butt that keeps them going. And I've noticed myself in my own life getting so comfortable and so complacent to where it's like I have to continuously like that fire and look for ways that I can be uncomfortable and look for ways that I can continuously be moving forward and it's taking a cautious effort but I also recognize that as I cautiously make these decisions and make these actions or take these actions rather it'll eventually subconsciously get reprogrammed into habit. I started to live without limitations program to establish habits and habits are subconscious ways of acting or thinking.
And so after a period of time, you know, for example, last month I started the program April 1st, I started the L.W.L. program. If you're curious to know what I'm talking about, go back to episode 19 with my good friend, Paul Miller, and we talk and break down the program. But I started out with 30 minutes of exercise each day. So for the exercise, what I did is I started walking. So I would go on walks every day for about a mile and a half, two miles, 30 minutes worth of exercise, you know, brisk walk, you know, go around, I would listen to self-development at the same time.
And one and a half miles a day really is in a lot. But then at the end of the month you look back and you're like in a period of 28 to 30 days, I was able to walk over 50 miles. 50 miles compared to walking a couple of months going to 50. That is a huge jump. That razor edge difference and that may that razor edge you know that that that one little decision that I made to implement into my day to day life made such a big difference and it's the same exact way with our thinking, you know, and what is normal?
What is normal? Beautiful thing is guys, we can determine what is normal. And just because we were raised a certain way doesn't mean we have to live that certain way. You know, the more I view over, you know, certain beliefs and certain things, the farther away I go in the opposite direction just because I realize they don't line up with what I stand for. I'm a very logical guy. I base a lot of my beliefs and a lot of my viewpoints off of logic and what makes the most sense what will get the most results, what makes the most scientific sense, you know. And I've had to go and you know, I don't have the same political viewpoints as my parents. I might veer off into a little bit more, you know, into a different field when it comes to, you know, religious viewpoints.
And that is because I have the power to change my thoughts because normal to me really wasn't normal at all. Every single person lives an entirely different life. That's the crazy thing. Thought. Every single time you're driving on the highway and you are stuck in the middle of traffic, right? Let's say you're on a major highway. Like I-95 is the major highway that runs through Jacksonville, Florida. And let's say you're stuck in traffic and you're driving along and you're basically at a standstill. The person in the car to your left, the person to your car in the right, the person behind you 100 cars back, the person in front of you 100 cars back.
single individual in that vehicle has had a different life with different people, with different experiences, with different beliefs. I want you to replay this past 15 seconds.
Think about this for a second. Every single person around you has lived an entirely different life and so what is normal to that person might be radical to you. What your life is might be radical to them. So this leads me into my next point and the final point of today's episode that you need to take time to figure out what you want your normal to be. I'm not saying the average. I'm not saying be normal. I am saying take a step back and reevaluate those beliefs that you were programmed with, reevaluate those different things that those way of thinking, right, the great value beans versus versus the bushes beans.
But ask yourself, you know what? Do I want to be living in that mindset of scarcity or do I want to be living in that mindset of growth and prosperity?
There's a huge difference, guys. If you start operating with a thought of, I can do this and asking why not versus what like, how could I? Man, your life will experience crazy, crazy results. And I'm not just saying that. You know, there have been multiple instances where I'm like, I had no idea how anything of my life was going to happen and then it happened out for the best way possible because I believed it could because I had faith in myself. When I booked a one-way ticket to France, I had no idea how I was even going to pay for my ticket coming back. I had a couple hundred dollars to my name.
You know, I closed a nice client. I had enough money for living expenses and stuff like that. It was relatively low, but I had no idea how I was going to book a ticket back.
But I had that prosperity mindset and I knew that there was a client out there that needed what I offered and I closed that client and paid for my ticket home. But I had faith and I had an optimistic mindset and I knew that I could do it. I knew that I can do it. Normal thinking gets normal results. And if you make your definition of normal, something that is so far out there when it comes to prosperity thinking, when it comes to beliefs, then these daily routines and these these daily habits and your subconscious programming will be so powerful, you won't even have to think about, you know, you won't have to think about going out of your way to do self-development every day.
You won't have to think and go out of your way to put on a podcast or to tune into a new episode of Chase the Vision with Isaac Mashman, you know, because it'll just become second nature to you.
Guys, we are in full control of our lives. We are in full, full total control of our lives, our situations. You know, I get that a lot of what is going on right now, might appear to be out of our hands. Yes, to an extent is out of our hands, but to a large extent is not because just if you got laid off from a job, doesn't mean you should go out and start smoking weed, or start partying, or start blaming everybody else, and start pointing fingers at your employers. They have to put food on their own tables too. You understand that. It is why you need to be a leader and you know a good episode to refer back to is the last episode right before this where I say it is time to step up as leaders and I go into why it is important to be a leader.
You're in full control. Take that extreme ownership of your life. Jocko Willink is a Navy Seal. He was in the Navy Seals for 20 years and he talks about extreme ownership and taking control over your situations. Every single successful mentor or person who you could look to doesn't blame the government, doesn't blame everybody in their life or Uncle Joe for things that worked or things that didn't work. No. You know, if something is going right, everyone takes responsibility, right? You know, think back to, let's say, a company project you were working on with a couple other people or for some of you younger guys, right?
Back in school, whenever you were doing a school project. Oh yeah, when you got that A plus on your project or when that project had a huge success rate, everybody wanted a claim ownership of that.
Everybody wanted to be like, yeah, I did a... Yeah, that was mine. I did a part of that. But then if you failed that project or if you didn't get those results that you were looking for, nobody wanted to go ahead and say, yeah, that was mine. No, they wanted to point fingers and say, oh, it was him. It was Susie. It was that person. Oh, this, this went wrong in the project. I couldn't do this because this was out of whack. Guys, stop beating around the bush and take control. Take ownership. And I've realized that when you achieve success, it's success rather. It is better to give the credit to another person than take the credit because it helps that other person succeed. It encourages that other person and you automatically feel better. And you also need to take credit when things don't go as planned.
Take control of your situation. Guys, there are so many phenomenal things that I could go on and talk about. But in today's episode, go ahead, listen to this a couple times if you need to, but really pay attention to what I say. Really pay attention to the way that you are operating in your day to day life. As you go out today, go through today and go through tomorrow and go through next week. I'm not paying attention to how the way that you were raised has affected your normal life. Take some time to reflect tonight, meditate, write out your thoughts, write out your feelings and write out how, you know, how that scarcity mindset has affected you today.
And then where you see fit, make changes. You could do all the studying in the world, but if you don't take massive action, you will never receive massive results.
So guys, thank you so much. And like I said, little bit of housekeeping roles, make sure to share this episode with someone who you know will get value from it.
